A SUNDOG
is a beautiful splash of
bright color in the sky. The Sundog pictured on this
website, as well as on our farm website at
SundogFarms.com was taken on our wedding day. We have seen several Sundogs
since, but that remains the most vibrant we have ever seen.
Here is a more technical
definition of a Sundog...
Sundogs, also
called mock suns, are colored, luminous spots caused by the
refraction of light by six-sided ice crystals in the atmosphere.
These bright spots form in the solar halo at points that are 22
degrees on either side of the sun and at the same elevation as the
sun.
